Kennedy & Willow!

I'd bet many people surfing this site are here out of a real love for the character of Willow on BtVS.  I've been watching TV for years, and I've never felt such an affinity with a fictional character as I do with Willow.  Oh sure, perhaps Dark Magic Willow was a bit over the top, but can you blame the girl for losing her temper?  Willow the brainy geek, Willow the computer nerd, Willow the straight girl then Willow the lesbian... the things Willow lived were things I lived too.  It was a pleasure and a thrill to see an image of myself reflected on "Buffy" for the last 7 seasons, and perhaps that's the main reason I loved the show so much.

The uproar over the death of Tara during season 6 was stunning.  I know there are fans who refuse to watch any episodes post-"Seeing Red", not to mention a number of people who think Willow shouldn't be involved romantically with anyone again, or that she shouldn't be involved anytime soon.  I really hope the presence of Iyari Limon as "Kennedy" will change their minds.  A mopey, sad, and guilty Willow is no fun for anyone, and I think Kennedy has the perfect blend of compassion and, well, "sass" to help Willow be happy again.  Besides, good lesbian characters on television are a rarity, and I think we need to embrace the ones we're given so that perhaps we'll eventually be given more.  Personally, I'm really glad Kennedy came to Sunnydale -- and I think Willow is, too!
